China Everbright Holdings former chairman Zhu Xiaohua is being investigated by the central government for alleged breach of rules, according to the company. It is the first time the government-controlled investment conglomerate has officially commented on the status of Mr Zhu, almost a year after he was sacked. Mr Zhu was abruptly replaced last July amid reports he was under investigation for 'economic irregularities'. Outgoing chairman Liu Mingkang said yesterday that Mr Zhu was being investigated by the government's Central Discipline Inspection Commission. 'Mr Zhu is suspected of breaching codes of practice,' he said, but added that he had not been informed of the investigation's progress. Mr Liu said Shao Zhengkang, executive director and general manager of the SAR-listed flagship, China Everbright Ltd, who did not appear for yesterday's press conference, was on a normal business trip.
