THE conviction of Gilbert Leung has prompted an urgent ICAC review of anti-corruption strategy during elections.
The Deputy Director of ICAC Operations, Alex Tsui Ka-kit, said yesterday they were discussing with members of the Government's constitutional affairs branch ways of preserving the ''integrity of elections''.
A special ICAC task force, the M-Group, is looking for loopholes in election laws, according to Mr Tsui.
Founded last April, the seven-strong group is studying election legislation and conducting research and analysis into the problems of corruption.
Mr Tsui said a review of the Prevention and Bribery Ordinance and the Illegal Practices Ordinance - which gave different punishments for election corruption - was also on the way.
Mr Tsui admitted the presence of certain grey areas in the legislation made investigations difficult.
