Some 2,800 junior secondary students will have an opportunity to improve their proficiency in English and Putonghua through fun-filled activities in language camps organised by the Education Department this summer. Deputy Director of Education Anthony Tong Kai-hong said: 'The aims of these language camps are to enhance students' language learning through a variety of activities and authentic experience under a lively and happy environment; and to enhance their self-confidence and develop their leadership skills and potential.' Two five-day English camps, each accommodating 500 students, will be held from July 3 to 7 and July 10 to 14. In addition to the language-focused activities, the summer English camp programme also features confidence building, civic and moral education. The three five-day Putonghua camps, each accommodating 600 students, will be held from July 31 to August 4, August 7 to 11 and August 14 to 18.
