LEGISLATIVE Councillor Chim Pui-chung will challenge in the Privy Council a Land Development Council (LDC) order to resume four of his properties. The Court of Appeal ruled yesterday that he had the right to appeal. The LDC wants to resume four of his properties in Central valued at about $163 million. The grounds of the application for leave to Her Majesty in Council are that the appeal involves property worth more than $500,000 which gives a right to appeal. It argues alternatively that the question involved is one of great general or public importance. But Mr Justice Macdougall said there was no merit in that argument. Had that been the sole basis on which the application was brought it would have been dismissed without hesitation, said Mr Justice Macdougall, sitting with Mr Justice Nazareth and Mr Justice Godfrey.
