FILM star Michelle Yeoh's brother was arrested by Malaysian police over fraud allegations as the Yeoh family walked out of a gala premiere of the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in Kuala Lumpur, according to local newspapers.
The Sinchew Daily said Yeoh Nam-yet, Ms Yeoh's younger brother, was arrested by Commercial Crime Bureau officers after the Friday premiere of the movie, in which she stars.
Mr Yeoh had been with his sister, their mother and sister-in-law when the officers made the arrest. The star was deeply embarrassed by the incident, the paper reported.
The charity premiere was attended by top Malaysian officials and local celebrities, including Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's daughter and film director Ang Lee, according to the report.
Mr Yeoh was alleged to be involved in a commercial fraud case with a stock broker.
The Nanyang Commercial Daily said he was remanded in police custody on Friday and was expected to appear in court tomorrow.
