Shanghai Maya Online Broadband, a 50 per cent-owned subsidiary of Tom.com, has formed strategic alliances with three companies as part of its expansion into the mainland's broadband content application and Internet services market.
The mainland-based company yesterday signed an agreement with China Yellow River Television Station to expand its broadband production business. It also signed accords with Sichuan Public Information Industry and Shanghai Online.
'The signing of these three agreements demonstrates that Maya Online is embarking on an expansion programme which will see it stepping out from Shanghai to the whole of China,' said David Wang Dawei, (right) general manager of Maya Online.
Maya Online is mainly involved in broadband content provision, Web site infrastructure development and in an associate company's media advertising business.
Mr Wang said the company was expected to reap 80 million yuan (about HK$74.92 million) from these businesses this year.
Shanghai Maya Corp holds 35 per cent and Shanghai Information Industry 15 per cent of Maya Online.
