A fun-packed water sports carnival was held to kick off the second phase of the 'Healthy Exercise For All' summer campaign. The carnival took place at the Shing Mun Valley Swimming Complex and Wai Tsuen Indoor Recreation Centre in Tsuen Wan. Hundreds of people enjoyed the carnival. Its aim was to draw public attention to the importance of healthy living and to offer free programmes for water sports enthusiasts. The highlights were water sports activities among TVB and Metro Radio artistes, Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Health Department officials and demonstrations by diving and synchronised swimming teams from Guangdong. LCSD officer Paul Leung Sai- wah said: 'The year-long campaign, launched in April, encourages public participation in all kinds of sports and physical activities to promote a healthy life style. The water sports carnival has been organised as a seasonal event.' To spread the message of healthy living, a lot of other activities were provided. These included sessions on hydro fitness for the elderly and the disabled, synchronised swimming, indoor rowing and simulated windsurfing, water polo fun games and a mini- triathlon challenge which consisted of swimming, stepper machine and cycling. For more information on programmes, leaflets with enrolment details are available at all LCSD offices, or call 2414-5555.
