The Government will not appeal against a court decision to return a pet monkey to an elderly street hawker.

Despite winning a court battle on Monday which rejected the Government's application to confiscate Kam Ying - a three-year old female - the earliest Chan Yat-biu, 90, and his monkey will be reunited is tomorrow.
Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department officials said they were consulting animal experts on the detailed conditions of a licence that Mr Chan should obtain in order to legally keep the monkey. Senior Endangered Species Protection Officer Lik Chik-chuen said no such permit had been issued since 1987. A department spokesman added: 'The monkey will be handed back to Mr Chan soon depending on the procedure.'
