After the inauguration of the company's HK$40 million, 30,000 square-foot television production studio, Mr Tsui said the company was set to launch its first documentary channel on August 8.
Its free Mandarin content will be delivered by satellite to viewers in the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, in three repeating six-hour programme sessions. It expects to broadcast up to 9,000 hours of content in the first year and plans to deliver 800 hours of documentary content in the first year.
The prime-time advertising rate has been set at US$2,000 to US$3,000 for a 15-20 second spot.
The company intends to produce about one-third of its programmes through its own facilities, source another third from United States television broadcaster A & E, and the remainder from other content suppliers.
