August 1992: Financial secretary appoints Nicholas Allen as inspector to look into affairs of Allied Group. November '92-January '93: Mr Lee and Mr Tse are interviewed by the inspector. June 11, 1993: Mr Lee's legal challenge to the appointment of the inspector and the steering group is dismissed. August 28, 1993: The inspector submits final report to financial secretary. September 15-19, 1993: Commercial Crime Bureau executes search warrants on offices of Allied Group. September 18, 1993: Shortened version of report published at press conference. May 7, 1997: Mr Tse is arrested in Australia. July 31, 1998: Mr Tse consents to extradition. August 25, 1998: Mr Lee is arrested by Commercial Crime Bureau. August 26, 1998: Mr Tse escorted back to Hong Kong from Australia and arrested. June 16 last year: Mr Lee and Mr Tse committed for trial. April 27, this year: Application by defendants for trial to be halted begins at Court of First Instance. Yesterday: Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee orders permanent stay of proceedings.
