The Smart Teen Challenge Camp will offer training to secondary school students to enhance their self-confidence, leadership skills, discipline and interpersonal skills between now and April 2001. The six-day programme, jointly organised by the Education Department and the Hong Kong Police Force, will be held at the Police Training School in Wong Chuk Hang. There are 10 camps, all of which are conducted mainly during school holidays. Each camp accommodates 100 participants who are recruited by schools. A spokesman from the police said that the course included team building, foot drill, rock climbing/ abseiling and sports exercises. The courses are run by experienced police instructors. In order to maintain effective communication with trainees, all instructors have undergone youth-related courses such as adolescent problem-solving and counselling.
