Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl) has teamed with Sinotrans Guangzhou to launch a sealed trucking service to speed up cargo deliveries between Chek Lap Kok airport and Guangzhou's Baiyun Airport.
Upon landing in Hong Kong, cargo would be cleared by local customs and trucked to Baiyun airport where full clearance would be conducted by mainland customs.
The service is the first of its kind since legislation was passed simplifying transshipment customs procedures.
Hactl, which was represented at the announcement yesterday by director of marketing Mark Ashall (above) said that the service, which would operate three-times-a-week, would include warehouse storage, physical handling services, documentation, customs clearance and on-time delivery.
The service would be operated by Hactl's subsidiary Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry Services.
