A MAN who took part in a multi-million-dollar jewellery shop holdup during which several shots were fired was yesterday convicted in the High Court.
A jury found Tsang Tin-hei, 26, guilty of one count each of robbery and possession of a firearm.
He will be sentenced on Tuesday by Mr Justice Chan together with Ng Yuk-ming, 30, and Chau Sai-ming, 27, who had earlier pleaded guilty to the robbery and other offences.
Tsang had pleaded not guilty to a total of four charges at the beginning of the trial. The judge had earlier directed the jury to return a not guilty verdict on two counts of shooting with intent.
It was the Crown's case that Tsang was one of five robbers who burst into the Chow Tai Fook Jewellers in Queen's Road, Central, at 2.05 pm on March 12 last year, where there were 38 staff and about 15 customers.
The robbers produced pistols, subdued two security guards and seized their shotguns before ransacking the showcases.
One robber fired a number of shots, one hitting a surveillance camera.
