The Lobby Lounge at the JW Marriott has a special dessert buffet on Friday and Saturday evenings. The menu offers three Iranian caviars (sevruga, oscietra and beluga) served in 30 gram portions with walnut blinis, warm new potatoes and traditional condiments. To complement the caviar, there is a selection of 14 champagnes, nine of which are available by the glass. These include Veuve Cliquot, Tattinger, Dom Perignon, Bollinger and Louis Roederer non-vintage brut, which range in price from $130-$400 per glass. The Lobster Bar at the Island Shangri-La is offering seven special seafood dishes, which are available until August 18. Guests can enjoy seared Ahi tuna haystack with lentils, vegetables and veal stock reduction ($175 plus 10 per cent), prawn and barley tortellini with seafood ragout ($180), pan-fried fillet of halibut coated with crab in orange-ginger mustard sauce ($200), and Maine lobster in apple chutney sauce with roasted coriander rice ($380). Fortunately, old favourites such as veal loin with kumquat chutney, mini Valrhona chocolate cakes and banana spring rolls are still available, but guests can now also enjoy new items such as grilled sirloin steak in fragrant ginger broth with rice noodles and tuna tart with fennel spread and vegetable vinaigrette.
