A drug dealer who peddled his wares at rave parties was caught in a sting involving two undercover agents posing as drug users, a court heard yesterday.
Alex Cheng Ho-fai, 24, pleaded guilty before District Court judge Bernard Whaley to seven counts of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
Prosecutor Vincent Chan said two police officers had posed as drug users at rave parties earlier this year. Cheng approached the woman officer on the dance floor at Club Temptation Disco in Wan Chai on March 4. He offered to sell her Ecstasy and she bought 10 tablets for $1,000. On March 10, Cheng approached the male officer in the same disco and sold him 20 tablets for $2,200.
Cheng cultivated the two officers, frequently phoning them to offer drugs. Later deals involved Esctasy, cannabis and 'ice' for a total of $20,000. Cheng was arrested on April 14 when he handed the woman a packet of ice in a restaurant.
Defence counsel Michael Cheung said it was tragic Cheng had become involved in the drug trade. His client had lost his job as a graphic designer last year but still had to support his family.
Sentencing was adjourned to August 11.
