July to October 1994: Takes 600,000 yuan (HK$565,100) in bribes from Guangxi Investment and Trust Co and its subsidiary Guangxi Guixin Industrial Development Co to broker a 16-million yuan loan for the two companies. 1994 to June 1995: Takes 20.21 million yuan from Yinxing Real Estate Development for a car-park contract in Nanning and to broker a 70-million yuan bank loan for the company. 1996 to 1997: Takes nine million yuan and HK$8 million from Yinxing for a contract to build the Ethnic Palace - a building which was originally owned by the Guangxi Ethnic Affairs Commission. Cheng and his mistress Li Ping help Yinxing to secure a 30-million yuan bank loan, 75 million yuan in loans from the Guangxi Government and 13 million yuan in subsidies from the State Development and Planning Commission. July 1994 to 1997: Takes jewellery such as diamond rings and gold watches, as well as bullion, worth about 550,000 yuan from Yinxing head Zhou Kun. July 1997: Takes 1.8 million yuan from Guilong Economic and Trade Company for a tunnel contract. 1994 to early 1998: Takes 288,000 yuan and US$3,000 (HK$23,400) from Gan Weiren, Zhou Yisheng and Li Yihong to arrange for job promotions.
