BARE bodies are what summer is all about - and there is plenty of skin on display this season with provocative midriff cutouts, plunging backs and sexy, scooped necklines.
Sound appealing? Maybe, but some of Hongkong's leading hoteliers and restaurateurs would rather you leave the more adventurous dresses at home when dining out.
While super-casual or sporty clothes are out of the question, most top eating spots - particularly those in plush hotels - have yet to decide how, or even if, they would welcome the revealing clothing from this summer's dress code.
''There is a fine line,'' said Rogier Verhoeven, food and beverage director at the Grand Hyatt.
''We generally use the term smart casual at our outlets, but we can't have anything too revealing in terms of shorts, and will not allow in anything that is sporty in nature,'' he said.
An evening gown that reveals a bit of skin is fine, but the grunge-inspired torn jeans and bleached and ripped T-shirt look is a big ''no-no''.
