Pacific Digital Media, a pay-TV operator, wants the Government to amend the existing Building Management Ordinance and co-ordinate with building owners' corporations to give pay-TV operators with new licences access to homes.
'This is a problem not only we have to deal with but other pay-TV operators have to face as well,' said Wilson Lee, executive director at Pacific Digital Media.
He said under the existing Building Management Ordinance, TV operators had to negotiate with building owners' corporations at each privately owned residential block and seek prior approval before being able to instal TV signal receiving devices.
'What makes our job even more difficult is that some of those building owners' corporations are not well-established and difficult to contact,' said Mr Lee.
He urged the Government to amend the existing ordinance to allow pay-TV operators greater flexibility in their installation work.
The Government should also assist all pay-TV operators to jointly negotiate with owners' corporations to facilitate their networking.
