Clearing system date set

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said a US dollar clearing system, which will make US dollar transactions as fast as those in the Hong Kong dollar, will start on August 21 and be fully operational by December. The system will make it possible for local and regional companies to sell shares denominated in US dollars and reduce the amount of time it takes to settle the transaction to real time from up to 14 days.
