On great form If you're tired of finding only skimpy little dresses in posh local stores, here's a surprise. The Swank Shop, which customarily carries lean pieces from Plein Sud and Roberto Cavalli, has elected to bring in a 'plus' size collection this autumn. Designed by Gianfranco Ferre - who isn't short of a few kilos himself - the new Ferre Forma line will include elegant basics in sizes 14 to 20. While no doubt stylish, the line isn't cheap: prices range from $1,595 to $8,000. Fashion debut Pouting supermodel Jodie Kidd will lead a parade of Indian and international models at India's first fashion week, which starts on Thursday in Delhi. The five-day event, which is sponsored by Indian beauty company Lakme, will include several catwalk shows by top Indian designers, including Tarun Tahiliani - already a fixture at the international shows - J.J. Valaya and Rina Dhaka. All these names have been sold in Hong Kong in some capacity or another. The truth is out Set to be another knockout success is Calvin Klein's latest fragrance, Truth, which is already available in the United States. Truth will be coming to Hong Kong courtesy of Seibu in October, when there will be a fab launch party. The organisers aren't sure where the party will be held - they are reportedly looking for 'something very Calvin Klein'. Looking good Speaking of Seibu, September sees the opening of its fashion department in Pacific Place. Look out for 150 new ready-to-wear labels, and the store's 'Co-Ed' department, which features 'sophisticated, young, hip, dynamic and street-savvy' clothes. The revamped beauty department, which opens on Tuesday, will introduce seven beauty lines, including Calvin Klein's make-up collection, and Chic-Choc, the 'young' make-up line from Japanese brand RMK. There were rumours Trish McEvoy's fabulous beauty products were also coming to Seibu, but nobody at the store would confirm or deny this. Wedding belles It's going to be the most widely copied wedding dress after the slim Narciso Rodriguez sheath worn by the late Carolyn Bessette. Friends star Jennifer Aniston's Lawrence Steele gown - which she wore at her impromptu wedding to Brad Pitt the other week - has already been copied by Allan Schwartz of ABS, who duplicates outfits worn at the Oscars about two days after the event. Aniston apparently paid a cool US$53,000 (about HK$412,000) for her dress, but the ABS version will be priced at less than 10 per cent of that. (ABS is available at Seibu.) Bag ladies Here's a tale of savvy entrepreneurship tai-tai style. One well-known local socialite bought a Birkin bag ($16,000) last year from Hermes in Paris. (Don't even think about getting on the waiting list for one in Hong Kong.) She carried it about five times before a friend virtually begged her for it. In the end, the socialite offloaded the slightly-used Birkin for a $7,000 profit.
