Lantern displays, traditional dances, Cantopop concerts and acrobatic stunts are among the main attractions at five lantern carnivals organised to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Four of the five carnivals have been organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Departments. Two of the larger ones will be held tonight in Victoria Park and at the Sha Tin Park and Plaza.
A carnival in Ko Shan Road Park, Kowloon, will take place tomorrow. One carnival has already been held - on Saturday night in Kwai Chung Sports Ground. The fifth is in Stanley tonight.
A song and dance group from Guizhou province will perform ethnic music and dancing at the Victoria Park and Kowloon carnivals. In addition, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and Hong Kong Dance Company will perform in Victoria Park.
A seven-metre-high lantern, called 'Dazzling Carp Leaping Over Victoria Park', will be on display and more than 150 lanterns will also be featured.
Visitors to Sha Tin will be entertained by acrobats and Cantopop stars Grace Ip Pui-man, Amanda Lee Wai-man and Cheung Chi-lam.
