ACTION movie star and director Sammo Hung Kam-po has launched a lawsuit against a magazine he claims published an article blackening his reputation.
Next magazine and its editor-in-chief, Cheung Kim-hung, were named as defendants in a High Court writ that Hung filed on Friday.
The magazine published an article on August 3 reporting rumours arising from the filming of the American television series Martial Law, produced by CBS and starring Hung.
The writ claimed the article made defamatory comments about Hung's professionalism and personal ethics.
It said the magazine published the article 'having calculated that the benefits to them through disparaging the image and reputation of the plaintiff would outweigh any compensation payable to the plaintiff'.
Hung is claiming unspecified damages plus exemplary damages for libel.
