Legislator-elect Abraham Razack will be supporting the Chief Executive, his former boss, in the new legislature.
A loyal admirer of Mr Tung Chee-hwa, Mr Razack said he had done a good job during the three years of his tenure.
Mr Razack, who will represent the real estate and construction sector, got to know Mr Tung when he worked at the Oriental Overseas Container Line, controlled by Mr Tung's family, some 20 years ago.
He later became commercial director of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation before moving to the Land Development Corporation, which he quit as chief executive earlier this year.
The Land Development Corporation will be scrapped later this year and be replaced by the Urban Renewal Authority.
'I got to know Mr Tung when I was with Oriental Overseas. I left the company about 16 years ago, but I still think he is a good leader, a good boss,' Mr Razack said.
'It is only three years after the handover - I believe we should allow more time for the system to work. The Government has done a good deal of good work and we have a good civil service who managed to bring us out of the Asian financial crisis.'
