Happy Valley striker Luis Carlos de Souza went home dazed and shaken after suffering a spasm attack and breathing problems during his team's 3-0 victory over South China in the Hong Kong First Division last night.

De Souza was rushed to hospital after colliding heavily with South China midfielder Gerry Laterza seven minutes after scoring Happy Valley's opening goal in the 33rd minute at Hong Kong Stadium. The Brazilian was taken to nearby St Paul's Hospital after Laterza's boot caught him square in the chest.

But Happy Valley team manager Tang Chu-sing breathed a huge sigh of relief when De Souza felt well enough to refuse further medical treatment.

'He was badly shaken up but he will be OK. He was complaining of breathing problems and he was given an oxygen mask to help him breathe easier, but he's OK now,' said Tang.

De Souza slotted home from a loose ball to put his side ahead as Happy Valley carved out a comprehensive victory over their rivals to move to second spot in the table behind leaders Sun Hei.

Kwok Yue-hung added to the scoring in the 55th minute and Scottish forward Paul Ritchie rounded off a good night's work with his team's third goal in the 83rd minute.
