Scolding unfair

The recent undeserved reproach Chief Secretary Anson Chan received from China's Vice-Premier Qian Qichen obviously indicates how grossly indifferent mainland authorities really are to the sentiments of the people in the Hong Kong SAR.

The fact of the matter is that Mrs Chan has indisputably done an impeccable job as Chief Secretary and as head of the civil service, while Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa has been generally viewed as incompetent.

If there is someone in the SAR Government who actually needed a reprimand, it should have been Mr Tung.
