Ko Shan Theatre rocked to the beat of hot pop music as 10 finalists fought to be the champions in the Hong Kong Teenage Band Competition 2000.
The finalists were Cyan the 8th; Climax; Teen's; Saturday; JETHouse; Yello-nation; Reficul; Daze; Outro Lado Project; and D.L.U. They were among the 38 bands that had entered the first round.
Daze took the Award for Best Performance. Outro Lado Project won the Award for Outstanding Covered Song Performance with Creep. Saturday won the Award for Outstanding Original Song with Saturday Night.
The competition, in its fourth year, was organised by the local charity Warehouse. It aims to provide opportunities for local teenage rock music enthusiasts to gain more experience in writing original material and performing on stage. Warehouse wants to promote the development of original teenage band sounds.
This year, Warehouse encouraged contestants to experiment with different 'musical instruments' such as DJ turntable, trumpet and Chinese flute.
The contest was open to bands made up of members aged between 13 to 23.
Each group had to perform one cover song and an original one.
