Builder denies fraud

A former site foreman employed by Hui Hon Construction charged with allegedely conspiring to manipulate the pre-drilling records at a Yau Tong redevelopment project site appeared in Kwun Tong Court. Mak King-fai, 25, denied conspiring with his company's former director Chan Kwong-yee and others to defraud the Housing Department in August 1998. Magistrate Gary Tallentire adjourned the case to December 7. In a separate case, Mak and two other former Hui Hon engineers, Tom Yiu-nam, 43, and Li Wai-hang, 44, will appear in Western Court today on a conspiracy to defraud charge.
