A robber who hit a young woman over the head with a spanner and grabbed her handbag was jailed for six years yesterday. Kiang Kay, 34, had pleaded guilty in the Court of First Instance. He admitted following the woman, a late-night restaurant cashier, into a lift in a Tsuen Wan residential block on April 11 and hitting her when she struggled. The victim managed to escape but her handbag, containing $240 and a mobile phone, was stolen. She was badly hurt and spent several days in hospital.
