Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) will release 391 units at Oscar by the Sea in Tseung Kwan O for internal sale today after registering about 1,600 potential home-buyers.
Agents said the strong initial response was mainly driven by the developers' low-price strategy, given the project's location.
It has been claimed that air quality in the area might be affected by the nearby landfill site. But Centaline Property Agency branch manager Jayson Au said most buyers were concerned more about transport than the air quality.
Most registered buyers believe it is quite attractive, as the units are offered for as low as HK$1.6 million.
At the public sale on October 21, SHKP is offering 44 units. The first batch of 12 in the phase-one development is priced at HK$2,946 per square foot for cash payment.
The second batch of 32 units in phase two is pitched at an average price of HK$2,823 per square foot.
