Nine Form Four students from Tang King Po School took part in the Year 2000 Radio Amateur Circuit Assemble Competition for Youngsters in the mainland this summer.
The contest, organised by the mainland's National Sport Association, was held in Beijing. It aimed to give students a chance to test their skills in constructing electronic devices within a specified time limit.
Each participant had to make an FM transmitter in one-and-a- half hours. The school's team came third and fourth in different categories, winning an Outstanding Performance Award as well.
One of the students said: 'It was hard to communicate in Putonghua. Yet we found ways to get around the language problem by using a mixture of Putonghua, English and body language and had a wonderful time with the local students.'
