On a night when the Ivan Allan stable was rejoicing in Fairy King Prawn's demolition job of the Happy Valley Trophy field, it was one of the yard's debutant's which caught the eye with a view to a future punt.
The fashionably bred Danriva got back under feature race hero Robbie Fradd but was noted hitting the line strongly for fifth in the Class Four event won by Look Who's Angel. A three-year-old gelding by Danehill out of the Riverman mare, Riva, Danriva wasn't pushed around in a pleasing trial at Happy Valley late last month, and there looks to be plenty more there for the Singaporean maestro to extract.
Elsewhere, there was a promising seasonal debut effort from the Alex Wong Yu-on-trained Wilful Flight, who was never on the track up on the speed before getting unbalanced at the home turn and coming again late to snatch third under Howard Cheng.
The Australian-bred son of Night Shift has built up considerably over the summer and should be seen to good effect when stepped up to 1,200 or 1,400 metres, preferably a Sha Tin.
