Central Registration Hong Kong will extend for two weeks the deadline for investors to replace duplicated MTRC share certificates because about 10 per cent have still not returned their duplicates.

As the registrar closed at 8 pm last night, a total of 1,359 pairs of duplicated share certificates, representing 90 per cent of the 1,508 pairs, had been handed back to the registrar.

Investors will get a new certificate and HK$500 for replacing the shares.

Central Registration said last Friday only those who returned the invalid share certificates in person on or before yesterday would get the HK$500 as travel expenses.

But a spokesman for Central Registration said this offer would now continue for another two weeks.

The customer services centre of the company's Wan Chai office in the Hopewell Centre would open today from 9 am to 1 pm and open for the next two weeks from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 8 pm.
