Updated at 4.49pm: Customs officers seized $5.2 million worth of dutiable cigarettes in a carpark in Yuen Long on Tuesday morning. ''Initial enquiries revealed that the seizure was smuggled into the territory by vehicles from the mainland,'' said a police spokesman. Three men, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested. At around 7am on Tuesday the Anti-Illicit-Cigarette Task Force officers, acting on a tip-off, raided a public carpark at Tai Chu Ha Road East. They seized about four million dutiable cigarettes, with a duty potential of $3.06 million, from two vehicles. The arrested will be charged with illegally handling dutiable cigarettes under the Dutiable Commodities Ordinance, and offences in relation to unmanifested cargo under the Import and Export Ordinance.
