Tung Chee-hwa's popularity has risen since he delivered his fourth Policy Address last week, while that of legislators dropped, a survey has found.
Mr Tung's rating rose from 4.48 out of 10 in July to 4.99 in October.
The popularity of other officials has also increased. Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan Fang On-sang rose from 5.78 to 6.82, while Financial Secretary Donald Tsang Yam-kuen went up from 6.08 to 6.69.
Exco convenor Leung Chun-ying rose from 4.39 to 4.55 and even the worst performer, Secretary for Justice Elsie Leung Oi-sie, went up from 4.11 to 4.27.
The survey of 543 people was conducted by Lingnan University on October 12.
Legislators were looked on less favourably. Emily Lau Wai-hing, of The Frontier, topped the list at 5.59 - down from 5.98 in July. Democratic Party chairman Martin Lee Chu-ming's rating dropped from 5.41 to 5.06, while Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong chairman Tsang Yok-sing decreased from 5.17 to 5.04. Only the rating for Hong Kong Progressive Alliance chairman Ambrose Lau Hon-chuen went up - from 4.39 to 4.56.
