Wong Chi-wai, 23, was handed a five-year prison term for harassing Man Sau-ying, 13, so much that she decided to end her life.

She jumped from a tower block and her body was found in the car park of Ming Shun House, Sha Tin on May 5 last year.

Wong was cleared after the trial of murder but convicted of the alternative count of aiding, abetting, procuring and counselling the suicide.

Prosecutor Nicholas Adams and defence counsel John Haynes informed the court that they could not find any similar cases to assist the judge in sentencing. Justice Thomas Gall noted that the man had a string of 32 criminal records - 11 involving violence.
