CrossJunction.com yesterday launched its first mobile portal with bilingual voice recognition capabilities, enabling Hong Kong subscribers to access the Internet using telephony devices.
The Internet company, which has teamed up with AAStocks, OpenRice.com and Gorillasia as content partners, will initially provide online information but eventually will provide transactional services such as stock trading, according to Viztel Solutions chief executive Lau Kin Wai (pictured).
CrossJunction is the flagship of Malaysia-based Viztel - a communication technology provider focusing on the wireless and e-convergence arena. The company, which is targeting a rarely explored speech industry, is expected to break even in 12 months to 18 months, Mr Lau said.
Viztel is 20 per cent owned by Growth Enterprise Market-listed Techpacific.com through its Nirvana fund. The venture capital firm, betting on the prospects of speech industry, made the investment two months ago for an undisclosed sum.
Techpacific provides seed capital and technical support start-ups and manages technology venture capital funds.
