Six candidates to run for Island seat

Updated at 7.12pm: A total of six candidates will be running in the Legislative Council Hong Kong Island by-election, the Returning Officer revealed on Thursday as nominations closed.

Among the candidates only full-time District Council member Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong's Christopher Chung Shu-kun belongs to a political party, although independent Audrey Eu Yuet-mee is backed by the Democrats.

The other four candidates are company director Mr Shi Kai-biu, senior sales manager Simon Lo Ching-cheung, full-time Eastern District Council member Jennifer Chow Kit-bing and solicitor Paul Tse Wai-chun.

The by-election will be held on Sunday, December 10 to fill the seat vacated by the disgraced former DAB vice-chairman, Gary Cheng Kai-nam.
