Democrat legislator Albert Ho Chun-yan has filed a defamation suit against  
a popular daily newspaper over one of its editorials. 

Mr Ho, also a solicitor, took offence at the Oriential Daily News for allegedly drawing an analogy between him and Gary Cheng Kai-nam.
 
Mr Cheng, a former deputy chairman of the Democratic 
Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, was shown in late August to have used confidential government information for personal gains.
 
Mr Ho filed the writ to the High Court on Friday, naming as defendants the paper's publisher and proprietor Oriental  Daily Publishers and editor Paul Ching Fuk-hung. 

Seeking unspecified damages and an injunction, Mr Ho alleged the Oriental Daily's editorial attacked his integrity as a lawmaker.
