VTech Holdings, the cordless phone set and electronic learning toys manufacturer, is moving into the e-commerce software business in a joint venture with Guangzhou's South China University of Technology (SCUT).
The venture, called SCVTech, will focus on application services provider services and develop software allowing enterprises to process electronic supply-chain and operational resources management.
The company plans to develop an e-commerce platform called e-Hub, on which buyers and sellers can carry out one-stop transactions from financing, order placement, logistics management and inspections to maintenance with low costs.
'E-commerce helps to streamline and improve operation processes and bring maximum benefits to the enterprises,' said Paddy Law, general manager of VTech's China Services.
Meanwhile, the venture has formed a strategic partnership with United States-based software giant BEA Systems, to pursue opportunities in the mainland e-commerce software market.
SCUT president Liu Huanbin said: 'With the setting up of SCVTech, we will be able to develop the practical applications of e-commerce software and tap the growth potential of China's Internet market.'
