IT is indeed a pity to see my schoolmates becoming so materialistic and I sometimes wonder if the media is to blame for this.
High pressure advertising has become a feature of modern life.
Advertisers presumably realise that people desire to have material things and so they compete with each other to try and tempt these people.
On television and in newspapers we can see all sorts of commercial adverts which extol the supposed merits of a superior brand name.
Sometimes, I wonder if some of those products are really worth buying.
Sadly, society lays emphasis on material things and once people have them they desire more.
