Visual comedy is one of those art forms that appears to require no effort from performers, as though they were born with the ability to make people laugh with a mere grimace.
That's if you are fortunate enough to see a good visual comic which, happily, British comedian Steve Best is.
His elastic face, manic movements and endless stage props - combined with rapid-fire jokes - had his audience screeching last night.
As he explained that he had been kicked out of one institution after another for being 'too immature', Best asked the audience to judge if that was the case, before reaching into his prop case and pulling out gag after gag.
The material in itself was not exceptionally new but his delivery and sleight of hand made for non-stop hilarity.
'I once played chess with a dyslexic, but he kept stealing my prawns,' was one of his many one-liners delivered at lightning speed. Armed with masks, guitar, balloon, a velvet curtain, a blow-up doll and even a toilet seat, this frentic performer - who has built a solid following in the United Kingdom - and his 'immature' act went down a treat.
