Henderson adding to data centres
Henderson Land Development has Town Planning Board approval to convert an industrial building in Chai Wan into a data centre, further strengthening its portfolio in the Internet infrastructure business.
The board yesterday let the developer convert Joseph Yen Industrial Building into office space suitable for data-processing business and computer-related operations.
The building, at 24 Lee Chung Street, has a floor area of 114,300 square feet.
In view of the rising demand for Internet business and e-commerce, Henderson Cyber, Henderson Land's Growth Enterprise Market-listed unit, is aggressively building its data centre portfolio.
It owns certain buildings for data-centre operations and rents space from Henderson Land to run the business.
Last month, Henderson Land applied to build a 215,000 sq ft data centre in San Po Kong.
