A group of outstanding tertiary students attended training courses under the Young Leaders Development Programme.
'The aim of the programme is to enhance leadership skills, communication techniques, team spirit and social awareness among outstanding young people so they can contribute to society,' Alwin Lam Man-tak, senior vice-president of AIA (American International Assurance) Foundation, said at the closing ceremony.
In July, the students went on a trip to Singapore to collect information and material for their research project on the impact of information technology on the life insurance industry in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Three awards were given to participants with outstanding performance. The Best Presentation Prize went to students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), while the Polytechnic University team won both the Best Report Writing Award and the Most Outstanding Team Award.
'I was lucky to be one of the four students selected for the programme. My teammates and I have been working closely together over the past seven months, especially on our final essay,' said Connie Tang Hong- lei, leader of the CUHK team.
'The award is a great encouragement. The programme has broadened my mind and given me valuable experience,' said the second year journalism student.
