For more than one-and-a-half decades, City University of Hong Kong has moulded thousands of graduates in diverse disciplines.

In the past 15 years alone, more than 37,000 have graduated from the institution, which was accredited with university status in 1994.

As it strives to fulfil its role in educating professionals for the continually evolving needs of Hong Kong, as well as orienting itself to the shifts in education itself, the university is nurturing a different breed of students.

These include not only students who excel in their chosen disciplines but also those broad- minded professionals who understand their heritage while embracing other cultures.

While academic knowledge will remain a valuable asset all their lives, undergraduates are advised to cultivate other virtues to achieve an all-round development.

Learning, undergradutes are told, is not just about knowledge gained in the classroom. Learning is for a lifetime.

In its endeavour to mould the well-rounded student, the university continues to emphasise the value of English and Chinese competency; the advantages of strong communication skills; the importance of analytical thinking, and the need to cultivate moral and ethical values. Teachers are also encouraged to take a more active approach and urged to stimulate critical thinking.
