A member of the US Consulate's clerical staff fought off a burglar who broke into his house in Aberdeen. The 31-year-old expatriate, who lives with his wife and two children, was alerted by his dog when the raider climbed into his three-storey house in Shouson Hill Road at 5.30am. The burglar escaped after a struggle.
