ALTHOUGH the hotels here don't make nearly as much fuss over Father's Day as they do over Mother's Day, there are still some attractive programmes to be found which offer a special deal for the family on an outing. The Grand Hyatt, for example, has a set dinner in its One Harbour Road Cantonese restaurant for $460 per person. (All prices quoted do not include 10 per cent service charge.) The same hotel is offering a buffet lunch in its Grissini Italian restaurant for $330, with a children's price of $180. The Hongkong Marriott has a lunch buffet in its Marriott Cafe on Father's Day for $210, children $165, and a dinner buffet for the same price. In the hotel's Man Ho Cantonese restaurant, there is a special set dim sum lunch for $138 per person, with a minimum of six, and a set dinner menu for $1,180 for four. If six people are dining, the price goes up to $1,780, for eight it is $2,380, and for 10 to 12, $3,380. For dads with a taste for Californian food, JW's California restaurant has a lunch buffet priced at $210, $165 for children, and there is a four-course dinner menu at $288 per head. In the neighbouring Island Shangri-La, the Lobster Bar has a four-course lunch for $280, and the Island Cafe a lunch buffet for $200, children $140. There is also an afternoon tea buffet for $140 ($90 children) and a dinner buffet at $230 ($160). In the Furama, La Ronda revolving restaurant has a special Father's Day lunch and dinner buffet with a magic show at lunch and live music in the evening. The price for the lunch is $280 ($220), and the dinner is $330 ($280). The hotel's Island Cantonese restaurant also has a celebratory lunch and dinner menu: minimum charge for adults is $180, children $150. The Hotel Victoria's Cafe Terrace is celebrating Father's Day with a seafood buffet, with fresh oysters, yabbies, sashimi and sushi, in addition to roast prime rib of beef and a selection of Asian specialities. Lunch is priced at $160 ($80), while dinner is $200 ($120). In Causeway Bay, the new Regal Hongkong Hotel is organising an East meets West dinner buffet in its ballroom at $258 ($168), at which a karaoke stage performance is available for dad to show off his talent. The Regal Seafood Restaurant has a set dinner menu for tables of six, eight or 10, priced at $1,988, $2,788 and $3,688 respectively. For dads who prefer Chiu Chow cuisine, the Regal Chiu Chow Restaurant in the shopping arcade offers a full dim sum service at lunchtime, with dinner menus priced at $1,788, $2,588 and $3,388 for six, eight or 10 respectively. In the Lee Gardens Hotel, the Pavilion has an oriental dinner buffet during which Ms Lulu Valiente and the Revision Trio will sing golden Oldies from the 1950s and 60s. The cost is $250 ($210 for children). The same venue also has a lunch buffet at $175 ($145), during which father will receive a Memories 2000 Databank as a souvenir. The Park Lane has a buffet in its Parc 27 rooftop restaurant, priced at $268 ($198), where dad will be presented with a miniature bottle of cognac and a Polaroid picture to mark the occasion. In The Excelsior, the Excelsior Grill has a buffet lunch at $268 ($198), and a buffet dinner with live music for $308 ($228). For a more casual get-together, the hotel has a Coffee Shop lunch buffet for $198 ($148) and a dinner buffet for $228 ($158). On the other side of the harbour, the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Harbour View has a lunch buffet at $198 per head ($125) and a dinner buffet for $238 ($148) in its Cafe Rendezvous. As a special treat, all dads will receive a miniature bottle of whisky as a gift. The hotel's Belvedere restaurant, meanwhile, is offering a great brunch for $238 ($178), with an unlimited choice of 10 main courses, all served in appetiser portions, plus five champagnes offered at attractive prices (a bottle of Moet et Chandon, for example, is $379). The same restaurant has a special eight-course dinner that evening for $495. The Crowne Plaza's Mistral Italian restaurant has a five-course dinner priced at $289 ($178). Sister hotel the Holiday Inn Golden Mile is offering an buffet at its Cafe Vienna, for $153 ($98), while the Loong Yuen Cantonese restaurant has a set menu for four to six people at $1,200 and for eight to 10, at $2,500. The Hotel Nikko has both a lunch and a dinner buffet in its Cafe Serena, priced at $215 ($165), during which father will receive a miniature bottle of Martell cognac to commemorate his day. In the hotel's Les Celebrites French restaurant, special Father's Day menus are offered at both lunch and dinner for $170 per person: cognac is presented here also. If dad prefers, take him to the Toh Lee Cantonese restaurant, where there are set lunches with prices at $798 and $1,118 for four and six people, and set dinners with prices ranging from $1,800 for six to $2,388 for eight: once again, the cognac is offered. Sabatini Ristorante Italiano, in the Royal Garden Hotel, has a set lunch for $150 and a set dinner for $390, while there is a lunch and dinner buffet in the Greenery for $200 ($130). The Hyatt Regency, meanwhile, has a special brunch in Hugo's priced at $$398 ($278), while Nathan's is offering a deluxe affair priced at $238 ($138).
