An unemployed man allegedly instructed by a friend to stalk prominent barrister Kevin Egan knew only that the aim was to put 'some kind of pressure' on the lawyer, a court heard yesterday.
To Ka-ki, 22, said he acted on the instructions of Yeung Man-hung, 33, to follow Mr Egan on April 17 after a hearing at the High Court in which the barrister was defence counsel, according to a police video interview played in Western Court yesterday.
Mr Egan alleges a stalking campaign was set up by Wong Kwai-fun, 43, whom he successfully prosecuted in 1989 in a conspiracy-to-defraud case that led to Wong being jailed for 14 years.
The barrister believed Wong, whom he described as his only 'enemy in the world', sent To, Yeung and 20-year-old Wong Yiu-nam to the trial in April. He said the trio looked 'out of place' in the courtroom.
The three, who allegedly stared at Mr Egan during the trial, have pleaded not guilty to one joint charge of loitering causing Mr Egan concern.
The court heard that after the hearing, To was asked by Yeung to follow Mr Egan to a common room of the Bar Association at the High Court. He waited a short time outside the room until the lawyer emerged and went into a lift. To followed him in another lift and was arrested on the ground floor, the court heard.
