The Internet version of the Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) scheme will be launched Saturday. It will provide a wide range of public services online, do away with paper forms and speed bureaucratic processes. Hong Kong residents with Internet access will be able to access public services through the ESD system, such as payment of government fees, submission of tax returns, voter registration, renewal of driving and vehicle licences, and change of address through Web site www.esdlife.com . The ESD services will be available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 'The ESD Scheme will provide an innovative way of public service delivery which is simple and user-friendly,' said Alan Siu, deputy secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting. People without Internet access can use ESD services through public information kiosks.
