It is getting harder for mobile-phone makers to be heard above the din as the market grows more crowded. That is prompting leaders to rev up their marketing efforts. To drive home the features of its latest mobile phone, the 8250, Nokia had a parade of blue cars in Hong Kong on Sunday. A cavalcade of flashy cars - including models from Lotus, Porsche, Ferrari and BMW - carried such celebrity passengers as Simon Yam and Daniel Ng who endorsed the new phone with its blue backlit display. Launched in Asia earlier this month, the phone comes in four colours (pictured, with actress Vanessa Yeung) - Illicit Green, Mysterious Blue, Elusive Gold and Bewildered Red. An ergonomically designed keypad offers easier dialling, it has an internal vibrator and it has Infrared for swapping data wirelessly with compatible Nokia phones, laptops and personal digital assistants. It also comes with a built-in, small-message-service chat feature.
