Average life expectancy to rise over the next 30 years

Life expectancy for Hong Kong will increase by an average of 2.1 years over the next 29 years, according to a Government forecast released yesterday.

By 2029, the average life expectancy for men will be 79.3 years and for women 84.5 years. Hong Kong has experienced a continuous decline in mortality rates since 1996. Expectation of life for men increased from 76.2 years in 1996 to 77.2 years in 1999 while expectancy for women increased from 81.8 to 82.4 years.
